Armchair Gilded Wood Empire Period Restoration Château De Versailles Apparat Bureau XIXeme
Gilded beechwood armchair. Double baluster front legs finely carved with lanceolate leaves and saber-shaped back legs. Foliate thimble and richly decorated belt with post or Greek wave friezes. Armrests in antique-style fluted and ringed columns, resting on diamond-pointed tables with scrapers. Straight armrests joined to the back by an acanthus scroll. Back frame carved with interlacing friezes.
While the chair's silhouette is typically Empire-style (double baluster, columnar arm brackets, square back), the chair nevertheless dates from the Restoration period, as it borrows several decorative elements from the Louis XVI style: posts and interlacing.
Fully pegged assembly and inventory markings under the armchair
