Table Or Hand Brazier. Bronze. Spanish School, 17th Century.
Table or hand brazier. Bronze. Spanish school, 17th century.
Small brazier designed to be placed on a desk or dais, with circular legs, polygonal shape, curved lines and vase-shaped finials, recalling Renaissance motifs in certain details. It is fitted with a spoon with a flat, twisted handle (called a "badila" in the case of braziers). These objects were often called "table braziers", in reference to their use to warm scribes' hands in cold weather, but they were also used to heat wax for stamps, for example. This type of brazier was common in the Spanish school of the 17th century (and later), characterized by a composition of horizontal polygonal pieces separated by balustrade or column-like elements.
Weight: 1,200 grams. - Dimensions : 24 x 24 x 12 cm
