Napoleon III Brooch In 18-carat Gold And Silver, Floral Bouquet Set With Rose-cut Diamonds
Napoleon III brooch in 18K gold and silver, floral bouquet set with rose-cut diamonds and pearls
Description
Superb Napoleon III period brooch depicting a flowering bouquet, treated in an asymmetrical naturalistic composition of great elegance. The jewel features entirely handcrafted work, with a remarkable play of volumes, superimpositions and contrasts between the various floral elements.
The brooch combines 18-carat gold and silver directly on the front. The stems, leaves, certain flowers and the small upper flower adorned with a pearl are made of 18-carat gold, while the diamond-set flowers are worked in silver, in accordance with 19thᵉ century jewellery practice enabling the brilliance of the stones to be enhanced.
The set is set in 18-carat gold.
The set is set with rose-cut diamonds, typical of XIXᵉ century jewelry, the largest of which measure around 4 to 5 mm. Some stones feature beautiful cognac hues, deliberately bringing additional warmth and chromatic vibrancy to the composition. Pearls punctuate the bouquet and soften the brilliance of the diamonds with their satin sheen.
A highly decorative yet perfectly wearable jewel of character, it can be worn by both women and men, particularly on the lapel of a jacket.
