Rare Pair Of Richly Carved Walnut Cupboard Doors With Three Dark Patinated Louis XIV Panels
Artist: Non Signées
Magnificent pair of richly carved dark patinated walnut cupboard doors from the early 17th century in the Baroque style, complete with their hinges and a low closing pull; the generous lock escutcheons cut in thick yellow copper adorn the middle of this beautiful facade. This piece is located in south-west France. The top panel, with its gracefully molded gendarme-hat motif, is decorated with foliate scrolls; The middle panel features a generous rosette surrounded by acanthus motifs in the corners, the center adorned with petals like a sunflower, the lower part with acanthus leaf scrolls on an entablature base richly decorated with parachute leaf falls; This pair of doors is undoubtedly the front of a rich wedding cabinet made from healthy, well-preserved walnut grain, free of parasites (natural tanning when the wood is cut in spring, when the sap rises).
