Female Portrait With White Hat, Vittorio Gussoni (?) (milan, 1893 – Sanremo, 1968), Ca. 1940
Artist: Vittorio Gussoni (?) (milano, 1893 – Sanremo, 1968)
Female Portrait with White Hat, Vittorio Gussoni (?) (Milan, 1893 – Sanremo, 1968), oil on canvas, circa 1940s
Oil on canvas depicting a young woman shown in three-quarter view. The painting shows clear affinities with the female figures created by Vittorio Gussoni for the celebrated Ramazzotti advertising posters, particularly in the treatment of the face, the wide hat, the pose, and the worldly elegance of the sitter.
On the reverse of the stretcher appears, in pencil, the inscription Vittorio Gussoni, together with the name Ramazzotti. This detail makes the comparison with the artist’s advertising production especially interesting, mainly datable between the 1930s and 1940s. In the absence of a visible signature on the front, the attribution is proposed with due caution.
Dimensions with frame: 77 x 54 cm. Canvas only: 66 x 43 cm.
Giltwood frame. Overall good condition, with age patina.
