19th-century Plaster Model
Exceptional 19th-century plaster model.
Everything suggests that this is a model representing a fragment of a chapel.
Printed in plaster. Two putti at the top, symbolizing peace.
Beneath the medallion, a bacchic mascaron. Decorative face in relief inspired by Bacchus or a satyr. With elements of cornucopia.
Then, in the center front and back, a medallion representing Medusa. Gilded bronze. We know Medusa from Greek mythology. She had hair composed of snakes and anyone who looked at her would turn to stone.
Nowadays, Medusa is also known as the logo used by the Versace fashion brand.
Probably originating from France, 19th century.
Dimensions: 46H x 24W x 15D
