Chest of drawers – writing desk made of rosewood, France, late 18th century, front with three drawers separated by crossbars and decorated with a meander-patterned border; the top panel opens and slides over a vase and four drawers. Fluted, inlaid pilasters with a gilt-bronze frieze; apron adorned with a gilt-bronze scroll motif; straight sides; metal feet; breccia marble top. Stamped “J B Tuart” (master in 1760) on the top beneath the marble, provenance: Lucien Vigneau Gallery, Paris, 95x82x43.5 cm
