Covered Porcelain Vase With Polychrome And Gold Decoration, In The Sèvres Style, 19th Century
Elegant fine porcelain covered vase, of slender baluster form resting on a circular pedestal. The body is punctuated by wide vertical flutes, richly decorated with white-background reserves adorned with delicate polychrome floral garlands, framed by gold fillets and motifs on a deep blue background.
The flared neck is highlighted by a frieze of gadroons, while the perfectly fitted lid uses the same decorative vocabulary with rich radiating decoration. It is topped by a stylized gilt-bronze seed-shaped grip , adding a classic, refined touch.
The quality of the gilding, the "bleu de four" blue backgrounds and the finesse of the floral decoration evoke work in the taste of the great French manufactures of the 19th century, notably the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres type. The apocryphal mark on the reverse confirms a Sèvres-inspired production, probably from the late 19th or early 20th century.
