A work of great visionary charm, Silence Magique represents a full expression of the surrealist poetics of MAYO, a prominent figure within the international movement.

Created in Rome in 1970, the painting belongs to a mature phase of the artist’s career, characterized by a personal synthesis of dreamlike imagination and rigorous spatial construction.

The composition is structured around an essential architectural framework: geometric openings and passages stand out against an unreal landscape, while a multitude of spherical and stony forms seem to float in space, suspended between interior and exterior.

The intense and luminous color palette shifts from the warm tones of the horizon to the deep blues of the sky, creating a suspended and metaphysical atmosphere. The light, clear and almost crystalline, helps define volumes and surfaces with near-hyperrealistic precision, while the modulated repetition of forms suggests a hypnotic visual rhythm.
