Important pair of wall sconces in carved, openwork and polychromed wood, Northern Italian work of the 18th century. Each element features a moving structure decorated with foliate scrolls, volutes and scrolls in a Baroque spirit typical of Italian production of this period.

The central part is openworked into an oval reserve, today lined with antique mercury mirrors that we had added (the photos were taken before the mirrors were installed). These mirrors fit perfectly into the frame and reinforce the decorative and luminous character of the whole.

Each sconce is fitted with a spigot forming an arm of light at the bottom, designed to hold a candle. The nervous, deeply carved sculpture retains a beautiful antique polychromy blending green tones, ochres and gilding, with a highly decorative patina.

The work of the XVIIIth century is a masterpiece in its own right.

Eighteenth-century work, probably Northern Italy, in the late Baroque taste. Beautiful decorative pair that could be electrified or kept as wall candlesticks.

It's a beautiful pair.

Used condition with wear, minor chips, old restorations and original patina. Mercury mirrors added at a later date.
