19th Century Green Glass Vase With Violets
To declare your love for a young lady in the 19th century, all you had to do was offer a bouquet of violets and that was that. Parallel to this custom, glassmakers got in on the act, offering violet vases such as stemmed glasses in a Medici style with large macaroons like the model shown here, very typical, but in a beautiful and very rare green color. Indeed, virtually all these violet vases were made of clear glass.
