Michel Cayla's ceramic work is part of a sensitive exploration of material and form. He develops work in which the clay, often chamotte, retains its roughness and raw strength, while playing on presentation on Plexiglas plates to addcertain lightness to the work.
His work also draws on the heritage of Greek and Roman antiquity, with busts, faces and mascarons with classical accents, revisited in contemporary writing.
