Pearl Necklace With Horse, Bamiléké Cameroon
Venetian Rosetta pearl from Lower Egypt, "chevron pearl", barter, exchange and trading currencies. Also called Issafall, or Thiathiathio. In 15th-century Venice, the skills of Murano's glassmakers were coveted throughout Europe. Three colors, old with green hearts, more recent white, or red with blue and white chevrons. In Cameroon, these pearls were used as currency, a sign of wealth and adopted by the Bamilékés chiefs.
