Restoration Period Clock
An elegant portico clock in ebonized wood and finely chased and gilded bronze, resting on a remarkable eight-column structure, characteristic of refined pieces from the first half of the 19th century.
The circular dial with Roman numerals, framed by a rich gilt-bronze mount decorated with scrolling foliage, displays a beautiful antique patina. It is surmounted by an entablature adorned in its center with an openwork motif and flanked by two facing swans, emblematic decorative symbols of the Neoclassical taste inherited from the Empire period.
The finely crafted, exposed pendulum harmoniously complements the whole and underscores the architectural elegance of the piece. The base, highlighted with decorative gilt-bronze friezes, rests on discreet feet.
French work from the Restoration period, circa 1820–1830.
Beautiful quality of chasing and gilding. Eight-column model, rarer and more sought after.
