Antique French Faience Birdcage, Lunéville,
A charming Antique French faience birdcage, Lunéville or Saint-Clément tradition, 20th century.
Crafted in tin-glazed earthenware, richly hand-painted with polychrome floral sprays in a palette of pink, green, yellow, and violet. The decoration is strongly inspired by 18th-century Rococo taste, a style widely revived by the Lunéville factories during the late 19th and 20th centuries.
The cage is formed with a ceramic base and domed top, fitted with metal bars and surmounted by a ring handle. Inside is a suspended ceramic bird, accompanied by its original shaped faience feeder. The whole rests on small feet, with wonderful floral decoration to the underside.
