Description
Superb Lyonnais pediment mirror, a true example of 18th-century Lyonnais refinement. Its carved pediment highlights an interlaced monogram, framed by two winged putti in the round, whose graceful gestures bring lightness and movement. At the top, a triumphant cherub holds a basket of flowers, a symbol of prosperity and abundance.
The abundant decoration of foliage, acanthus and finely chiseled flowers testifies to the exceptional craftsmanship of Lyon's workshops. The well-preserved original gilding illuminates the piece and gives it an authentic patina.
The mercury mirror is highlighted by a 3 cm bevel, accentuating the elegance and depth of this exceptional mirror.
Very good overall condition, with slight wear to the gilding, in keeping with the age and authenticity of the piece.
