Empire Period Gilt Bronze Planter
Rare and elegant planter in finely chased and gilded bronze, from the Empire period, early 19th century. Rectangular in shape, it stands on four turned legs and features rich ornamentation in relief on its main face.
The highly refined decoration features a central scene animated by a figure in a frame of plant garlands and floral motifs, typical of the decorative vocabulary of the Empire. The sides are adorned with eagle-headed grips, an emblematic symbol of this Napoleonic period.
The interior retains its original tin tray, showing a beautiful patina of use, while the exterior gilding offers a beautiful sheen with slight wear testifying to its authenticity.
Both a decorative and utilitarian object, this planter will find its perfect place on a console, desk or as a centerpiece.
