Pair Of Ridgways Old Derby Porcelain Vases With Covers, England, C. 1891–1910
A decorative pair of English porcelain vases and covers by Ridgways, produced in the post-1891 period and decorated in the “Old Derby” pattern. The design reflects a Victorian revival of Derby taste combined with Japanese Imari influence.
The surface is richly decorated in cobalt blue, iron-red enamels and gilding on an ivory ground, with floral motifs and stylised reserves. The octagonal rims, domed covers and scroll handles create a refined and balanced form.
Ridgways successfully developed “Old Derby” as a revival pattern, and it remains highly regarded for its colour and decorative strength.
A complete pair with both covers present, increasingly scarce on the market.
