Inlaid Bedside Table
Refined, richly inlaid mahogany bedside table, 19th century, Netherlands.
The front is divided into an upper drawer and a lower door, containing a shelf, both embellished with elaborate inlays depicting elegant floral and plant motifs arranged within geometric patterns. The front door features a flower vase in the center, rendered with fine detail and great decorative flair, while the drawer is adorned with a stylized plant frieze.
The sides are also decorated with rich inlaid panels depicting vases with floral arrangements, framed by thin fillets. The upper shelf is decorated with an inlaid composition that echoes the ornamental repertoire of the entire piece.
The lock is original, with a bronze escutcheon.
It features flattened onion-shaped feet.
