Chest of drawers in satinwood veneer with amaranth and green wood-stained Greek-style fillets, opening with two drawers without rails, decorated with chased and gilded bronzes, Sainte Anne gray marble top, stamped Bircklé (reçu Maitre en 1764) and hallmarked JME, Transition L.XV-L. XVI period.XVI
Jacques Bircklé, received Maitre in 1764, produced a variety of fine furniture.
In most of these, virtually devoid of bronze, he favored marquetry in bright, contrasting tones, or mahogany in a very restrained manner.
Thus we find vases of flowers, urns, draperies, ribbons, music trophies and various attributes.
He worked for Queen Marie Antoinette, the Duc d'Orléans, the Princesse de Lamballe...
His work can now be found in major museums such as the Château de Versailles, the Louvre, Cognaq-Jay...
