Saint Augustin By Coelemans d'Aix

Engraving framed in wood depicting "the true portrait and habit of N.P. S. Augustin taken from his original which is in the Sacristy of Saint John Lateran". His biography is engraved below the bust portrait of Saint Augustine, who is shown in his study.
The plate engraving measures 23.5x18.3 cm.
Jacques Coelemans, an engraver born in Antwerp in 1654, moved to Aix en Provence in 1690 at the invitation of Jean-Baptiste Boyer d'Éguilles, a member of the Aix parliament, to engrave the paintings in his collection. He remained in Aix until his death in 1732, when he became a full-time print dealer.
