Jules Desbois (1851-1935)was a French sculptor and medalist,he studied at the Beaux-arts in Paris.He met Rodin in 1878 and became friends.He collaborated with him on numerous orderss as a practitioner.As a member of the Salon des Artistes Français, he was awarded a first-class medal in 1887, followed by a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1889.The collaboration with Rodin played an essential role in his artistic development:Desbois became widely known and received numerous orders.the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts in 1894, where he exhibited a sculpture of an emaciated elderly woman, ensured his consecration.in 1896, the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts devoted a solo exhibition to him.
