Majorelle Art Nouveau Bed In Mahogany
Artist: Louis Majorelle
Remarkable and rare solid mahogany bed and night table. French work of the Nancy School. Art Nouveau . Special order executed in Louis Majorelle's Nancy workshops. Richly carved, it features a virtuoso floral design of chicory flowers. The abundant carvings on this bed are both raised and openwork, demonstrating Majorelle's perfect mastery of Art Nouveau. What's unusual about this bed, however, is its unusual dimensions for its time, which led to a special order. The interior dimensions were designed to accommodate a bed base 1.60 m wide and 2 m long. From crossbeam to crossbeam, the width is 1m70, making it possible to fit a mattress 1m70 wide and 2 meters long.
This bed will fit perfectly in a bedroom dedicated to Art Nouveau in an amateur or collector's world.
It is fully dismountable, very stable, solid, not wobbly when assembled . This bed is in remarkable condition and has never been restored. It is in its original condition.
