Napoleon III Dressing Table In Marquetry And Blackened Wood
Elegant tabled'apparatformant coiffeuse from the Napoléon III period, in blackened wood richly decorated with marquetry of precious woods and gilded bronzes.
The movement-shaped top features a remarkable inlaid decoration, centered on an ornamental medallion with foliage and flowering vase, framed by a contrasting reserve. The belt opens to a front drawer also inlaid.
The cabinet reveals an ingenious interior system: the top opens to reveal a compartmented compartment in bird's-eye maple, with mirror recessed in the lid, typical of 19th-century dressing tables. Presence of its original small storage compartments and key.
The structure rests on four tapered legs in blackened wood, joined by an X-shaped brace adorned with a central gilded bronze element with classical decoration (urns and acanthus leaves), bringing elegance and stability to the whole.
Rich ornamentation of gilded bronzes (falls, frames, sabots and applied motifs) emphasizing the refinement of the work.
