- Art-Deco pedestal bowl in polychrome enameled glass decorated with clusters of yellow grapes and blue foliage on a sky-blue and colorless
frosted background.
- Signed below the base of the vase: A. Mazoyer, France, and a drawing of a windmill, a nod to the town of Moulins where he
resided and where he had his glass workshop and outlet for sales to private customers.
- Born in Le Creusot on March 18, 1887 and died in 1950 on November 2 in Moulins, the son of a merchant from Le Creusot, he moved to the
town of Moulins, in the department of Allier (03), in 1900.
- Adrien Mazoyer, then a master glass and earthenware maker, took over the family tableware store at the bottom of the rue d'Allier at
number 9, and set up his glass workshop and outlet for his glass and earthenware creations. He
taught himself to paint on earthenware and porcelain at the famous decorating store Le Vase Etrusque in Paris, where he was
employed and worked there.
- He leaves Le Vase Etrusque to set up his own business. He teaches himself glass enamel decoration, a complex
technique.
- A particularity that would make him internationally renowned, notably in the United States where he is listed.
- His glass creations produced in the Art-Deco period bear the signature A. Mazoyer, followed by a drawing of a windmill painted
with black enamel.
