(Copenhagen 1823 - Fredriksberg 1854)
A sawmill near a forest road in Denmark

The son of Denmark's King Christian VIII, Kraft, after a brief period thought of becoming a merchant, finally entered the Copenhagen Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1838, and began exhibiting his landscapes at the Charlottenborg Salon in 1843 ; the kingdom acquired one of his paintings in 1848.
As an artist, Kraft possesses a great sense of light, diffusing it in an "atmospheric" way or in a more as in our little painting.
Following winning a scholarship for his promising talents, he travelled to Italy from 1851 to 1853, and after his return, he exhibited views of the Roman countryside and northern lakes country, although illness soon took him away at only 31.
