Large Persian "Khatam Kari "* wood and marquetry box with mosaic decoration ofstars and geometric motifs,Middle Eastern origin, late 18th century. late 18th century.
This box is in good overall condition. We have its key, the lock works.
Please note: the keyhole is missing, there are a few accidents andon the star marquetry and on the fillets on the edges and cornersedges and corners, the hinges are a little worn (and oxidized),tiny cracks, scratches and wear from the passage of time, take a good look at the photos.
* The Khatam kariis a fine, meticulous work of marquetry whose earliest examplesdate back to the Safavid era: khatam was so highly prized at courtappreciated by the court to such an extent that some princes learned thethe same way as music, painting or calligraphy.Khatam-kari" is thus "inlay work".
