This vase features a fine lakeside landscape: a lake bordered by trees and leafy bushes, a pontoon with a boat moored to it, and the remains of a stone tower in the background. A setting with a poetic, naturalistic aesthetic developed by the Cristallerie de Pantin at the turn of the XXᵉ century.
The Devez signature was created at the beginning of the 20th century by Camille Trutié de Varreux, artistic director of the Cristallerie de Pantin. Between 1900 and 1918, the workshop produced acid-etched multi-layered glass vases with naturalistic and orientalist decorations, in the spirit of Art Nouveau. After the Cristallerie de Pantin merged with Verreries Legras in 1918, Devez's signature production ceased, giving these pieces a rarity and a special value for collectors.
