Painter, engraver and illustrator, Jean Terles studied at the Paris beaux-arts in Lucien Simon's studio, then at Casa Velasquez. After the war, he worked with Yves Brayer and Jean Dubuffet. He taught composition and art history at the Manufacture des Gobelins until 1976.
