A Concave Porcelain Plate From The Locré Manufacture (1772-1824).
A concave porcelain plate from the Locré manufacture (1772-1824). The two stylized, intertwined torches, drawn in blue, appearing beneath the porcelain are a reference to the Locré factory's trademark, also known as "de la Courtille," after the Parisian neighborhood where it was located. The factory was founded in 1772 on Rue de la Fontaine-au-Roi in Paris by Jean-Baptiste Locré de Roissy, who registered his trademark—two stylized, crossed torches in blue—in July 1773. The porcelain features a decorative repertoire of "au naturel" flowers, embellished with gold borders and festoons.
