French Victorian Perpignan Garnet Drapery Necklace In 18k Rose Gold
Perpignan garnet drapery necklace in 18k gold. This exceptional articulated necklace, fully set with foil-backed garnets in closed settings, is the perfect illustration of the beauty and rise of jewelry from this region in the 19th century. The necklace is composed of a succession of round bezels, set with raspberry-red garnets, whose size progressively increases towards the center to highlight the décolletage. Each stone is accompanied by another, smaller one, in a mobile drop. The brilliance of the garnets is enhanced by a foil backing under the stone. The clasp is concealed at the back of the necklace and secured by a chain. Regional necklace, Perpignan, circa 1880, France.
