Cutlery Box, Inlaid, 18th Century, Complete Inside.
Exceptional and rare 18th century cutlery storage chest, in exceptional condition.
The exterior is of a fine walnut veneer, on the front flap a rich compass rose, inlaid with the traditional 16 branches, enriches the quality of this chest.
The interior allowing cutlery storage is lined with fine original blue velvet in perfect condition of cleanliness and color.
The chest has probably experienced little use, possibly having been one of a set of the same chests, this one bearing on the front, at the bottom, an oval brass pastille with the number 20.
The brass elements: lock and port, as on the back are original and in good condition. No key.
