Na'in Rug, 254 X 382 Cm, Kork Wool & Silk Hand-knotted In Iran In Very Good Condition, Circa 1980

Artist: Atelier Na'in
Hand-knotted Na'in rug in Kork wool and silk, Iran, circa 1980 in very good, if not perfect condition.
This piece measures 254 cm wide by 382 cm long.

The Na'in are considered to be the finest knotted rugs in today's knotting art.
Their place of manufacture, east of Isfahan, made them considered among the Khorassan types while representing a group apart.
They are tightly knotted and therefore very resistant.

The ornamentation on these marvelous carpets uses delicate arabesque medallions, sometimes with vases as added elements.
There are also marvelous and ingenious arabesque compositions with flowers and boteh motifs full of elan.
The Na'in resembles Isfahan stylistically in the balance of the colors and the delicate articulation of the designs apart from the colors used.

The shades commonly used are incredible blues and blacks set against ivory, cream or white backgrounds (our model) sometimes combining straw yellow but also more rarely deep red .
Thin background knotting uses silk, fine wool and cotton in densities of between 500,000 and 900,000 knots per M2.
Our model is no exception to these rules, offering us a magnificent piece of quality, a medallion of beautiful dimensions accompanied by borders very present in Persian style and taste.

The blues usually used are found on the domes of the mosques of ancient Persia and Central Asia.
Kork wool is the softest wool taken from under the neck and belly of lambs at the first shearing which makes for carpets that are soft to the touch but tough as nails.

This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
Flawless piping, and velvet, short bangs.
