A prolific artist, Pierre Jules Mêne (1810-1879) distinguished himself as one of the leading French animal sculptors of the 19th century.
From 1838, he participated in the Paris Salon; he created his own foundry workshop and personally undertook the casting and chasing of his works.
His taste for animal sculpture, but above all the quality of his works, brought him great success.
