Empire Console Table With Caryatids, Marble Top
An Empire period mahogany console table, opening with a drawer in the frieze. The front rests on two uprights adorned with finely chased gilt-bronze caryatids, representing female busts in the antique style. The feet terminate in claw feet, characteristic of the Empire style. The frieze is decorated with applied bronze laurel wreath motifs and a finely worked central design. The slightly curved lower stretcher adds elegance and stability to the piece. The top is made of veined black marble, in good condition.
