Large 18th-century portrait of George, Prince of Wales, then Prince Regent (1762-1830), later King George IV. Oil on canvas. Excellent quality and condition. Profile of King George IV as Prince of Wales. This work is a full version of the portrait executed by Lawrence and held at the National Portrait Gallery, London. Lawrence was commissioned to paint several major portraits of George IV, as well as numerous studio versions, during their long collaboration. Presented in its original antique oval frame, gilt and decorated with foliage. Provenance: Christie's London, reference number 11943; Private Collection, UK, inventory number on the reverse. Dimensions: 107 x 81 cm
