Louis XV Period Oak Wall Console

Louis XV period varnished oak wall console

The richly openwork frieze features a design of foliate scrolls and coiled volutes, punctuated by graceful small flowers. The decoration continues along the sides of the console, in a similar ornamental style.

The base distinguishes this console with its exquisite craftsmanship. The two lateral uprights are very finely carved, forming an inverted console, and the feet are punctuated by a play of controlled curves and counter-curves and floral ornamentation. The stretcher connecting the feet is openwork in a stylized fan shape with a wide scroll.
The entire piece is carved from natural oak, a characteristic feature of the early period.

It is surmounted by a beautiful, fully curved, royal red marble slab, cut with a groove and double cavetto, following the sinuous shape of the frieze.
