Louis XV Style Wardrobe From Provence, Two Doors And One Drawer, Carved And Painted Wood
Artist: école Française
A beautiful Louis XV provincial armoire, crafted from molded wood, with two doors and a drawer in the lower section. It boasts a striking antique silhouette with a projecting cornice featuring rounded corners, shaped panels, a fluted central rail, a carved apron, and cabriole legs. The piece retains a lovely period presence and is captivating thanks to its antique patina in shades of grayish-blue with cream highlights, showcasing numerous surface variations, wear, rubbing, and translucency that enhance its authenticity. This antique piece dates from the late 18th century and has undergone restoration, repairs, and repainting. Visible repairs are evident in the structure, some joinery, the sides, the doors, as well as interior alterations. The interior has been relined. These interventions remain consistent with the furniture's history and do not detract from its strong decorative appeal. In its restored antique state, the back is quilted but has since been treated, with chips, small losses, wear, repairs, wood shrinkage, gaps in places, and signs of age consistent with its age. Beautiful overall patina. A very decorative piece, ideal in a country house, a charming interior, or as a contrasting element in a more contemporary setting. Perfect proportions. Dimensions: 200 x 134 x 58 cm.
