General view of Albi with a lively atmosphere. Charles Liozu (1866-1948), painter, writer, illustrator, and poet in French and Occitan, was born in Les Cabannes on October 6, 1866, and died in Cordes on November 8, 1948. A student at the Fine Arts schools of Toulouse and Paris, he taught drawing at the high school and the municipal drawing school in Albi. He humorously depicted rural scenes, the physiognomies, types, and customs of the Tarn region. He illustrated numerous magazines, catalogs, posters, musical scores, cultural documents, and postcards, some of which were reissued twenty years later. Oil on canvas, 32 x 46 cm, in very good condition. Modern frame with minor damage, 44.5 x 58.5 cm. Shipping available within France and internationally.
