Large Louis XVI style mahogany and gilt brass display cabinet, Napoleon III period, France, second half of the 19th century. This substantial Louis XVI style display cabinet, veneered in mahogany and adorned with gilt brass stringing and framing, rests on small, tapered feet ending in brass sabots. The front opens with two wide glazed doors, framed by gilt brass moldings, revealing an interior fitted with several shelves for displaying books, objects, or collectibles. The lower panels of the doors feature a simple design of rectangular moldings highlighted in brass, in a style directly inspired by Louis XVI furniture. The slightly rounded uprights, also embellished with brass stringing, lend rhythm and elegance to the overall design of the piece. The piece boasts beautiful proportions and a clean, refined design, characteristic of furniture produced during the Second Empire.
