Atlas Gilt Bronze Candlestick
Bronze candlestick depicting Atlas kneeling, condemned to carry the world on his shoulders. White marble base with triple molding. Dimensions: Total height 16 cm / 13.5 cm without the base. Marble base 11 cm x 7.8 cm. The central figure is 19th or 18th century; collectors will recognize it. > The cast iron perforations have been recreated with copper discs on the profile, see detail in photo N2 + N4. > The bobeche and marble base are probably later, from the 19th century; the whole is coherent and balanced.
