The work is unsigned, but in the lower left corner of the sheet, not visible after framing, one can read April 1870. The colors are very fresh. Sweet mignonette has been cultivated for centuries for its flowers, which attract bees and whose fragrance remains even after being cut and dried. It is believed to have been used for its calming medicinal properties.
