An Unusual Marquetry Commode From The Louis XV/louis XVI Transitional Period.
A Louis XV/Louis XVI transitional commode with projecting fronts, featuring seven drawers in five rows. The sides are solid walnut, the drawer fronts are Rio rosewood within amaranth wood frames, highlighted with thick rosewood stringing and small squares of green tulipwood in the corners. The commode terminates in small Louis XV feet. The top is Sicilian jasper. It retains its original bronze mounts and locks with the original screws.
