Luca Madrassi (1848–1919), an Italian sculptor born in Rome and active in Paris, belonged to the academic movement of the late 19th century. He distinguished himself with elegant compositions inspired by Antiquity, depicting female figures, children, and genre scenes. Collaborating with important bronze manufacturers, he contributed to the dissemination of high-quality decorative sculpture, appreciated for the finesse of its modeling and its harmony. His works, often produced in bronze or spelter, were very successful and remain sought after today for their classical charm.
