The Spinario is originally a sculpture from ancient Rome, generally dated between the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD. The most famous example is in the Capitoline Museums. It depicts a seated young boy removing a thorn from his foot—a simple, almost everyday scene, which is quite rare in ancient art, often devoted to gods, heroes, or idealized figures.
