Large Longchamps Earthenware Dinner Service, Late 19th Century
A substantial 80-piece earthenware dinner service by Longchamps, with a scalloped rim, the edge decorated with scrolls and foliage, the center of the plate adorned with a count's coronet. It comprises: 25 dinner plates (25 cm diameter), 21 soup plates, 24 dessert plates (21.5 cm diameter), 1 covered vegetable dish, 1 sauce boat, 1 compote dish, 1 mounted plate, 2 round platters of different sizes (32 cm and 29 cm diameter), 2 oval platters of different sizes (34.5 cm and 46 cm – the larger one has a chip on the rim), 1 relish dish, and 1 covered sugar bowl (with a chip on the rim). The set is by Longchamps, late 19th century.
