Pair Of Empire Period Pistols, Signed Berleur
A very fine pair of Empire-era saddle pistols, a late 18th-early 19th-century model, converted to percussion around 1822 (originally flintlock). These pistols are signed G. Berleur (Guillaume Berleur), a renowned Liège gunsmith and pupil of Boutet. The weapons exhibit high-quality workmanship with numerous decorative elements. Features: Octagonal, damascened barrels; lock plates signed G. Berleur and finely engraved with animals; side plates depicting two lions; pommel caps carved and decorated with small nails; finely worked quatrefoil pommel; polished steel trigger guards engraved with a bestiary; triggers with precision adjusting screws; beautiful checkered walnut stock.
