Gold Brooch With Knot And Tassels, Restoration Period, Charles X
This charming yellow gold brooch depicts a ribbon bow supporting two slightly offset tassels. Exquisite bullion rosettes and stars are applied to a textured background. At the center of the bow, a gold wire rosette motif surrounds a six-pointed star.
The brooch mechanism, tested to 9 carats with a touchstone, is fully functional, with a tube hinge and C-shaped clasp.
The unhallmarked gold has been tested to between 14 and 18 carats with a touchstone (likely 16 carats).
The gold boasts a superb color, the tassels move beautifully with the slightest movement, and this piece is nearly 200 years old!
It is in perfect condition, dating from the Charles X Restoration period, circa 1830.
