Bronze Buddha, Mon Dvaravati Style. Thailand.
A bronze Buddha statuette in the style of the Mon Dvaravati period. Finely cast, with arms outstretched and hands raised in Shuni mudra. He wears a dhoti and an uttarasanga with hemlines extending to his ankles. His face has a serene expression, with full lips forming a calm smile. His drooping earlobes are pierced, and his hair is styled in large, snail-shell-shaped curls. Above his head is a slightly domed Ushnisha. His feet stand upright on a small, square base. 19th century or earlier.
