Two-part Louis XV style walnut buffet – circa 1850. Superb two-part Louis XV style buffet, made of walnut around the mid-19th century (circa 1850). This antique piece is distinguished by the richness of its carved decoration, its elegant proportions, and the quality of its craftsmanship. The front opens with four paneled and carved doors, adorned with raised foliage branches, as well as two drawers in the middle section offering additional storage space. The upper section, with its elegantly undulating shape, is topped with a richly carved gendarme's hat decorated with a large central shell, an emblematic element of the Louis XV style. The uprights and sides of the piece also feature beautiful carved decoration, highlighting the quality of the craftsmanship. Between the two sections is a central shelf with a plate rack, a practical and decorative element typical of regional sideboards of this period. The whole rests on elegant cabriole legs with scrolls, set beneath a scalloped and carved stretcher, giving the piece all the elegance and lightness characteristic of the Louis XV style.
